BUSA Indoor Championships in Archery

This Saturday Birmingham hosted the BUSA Indoor Championships in Archery. Cambridge had won the team trophy in the past two years, but hopes for a third consecutive victory were low after a troubled indoor season and the graduation of two high-scoring archers last summer. A score of 2116 secured a fifth place, which was more than anyone expected. The pre-tournament favourite Edinburgh won with an impressive performance and a score of 2269 - only one point of the BUSA record. Imperial came second, closely followed by York.

Very good individual performances on the Cambridge team came from Ian Caulfield who scored 536 which is a new personal best and Peter Tovey on 468, who just took up the sport this year, but is already on a good way to reach squad standard.

The team now needs to concentrate on the upcoming Varsity Match. On Saturday Oxford beat Cambridge and this means that a 6th consecutive light blue varsity victory is endangered.
