On Saturday the Cambridge Bowmen hosted this year's Grudge Match against the Oxford Company of Archers. It was a bitter warning to the light blues before the Varsity Match next term. Oxford emerged victorious with final team scores of 1178 to 1127 and their archers Ben Huckvale and Catherine Roberts won both the Gents and Ladies individual events.
However this clear defeat should not be overweighed as the conditions in May will be very different and traditionally the team that loses the Grudge Match succeeds in the Varsity match. Also the performance of Cambridge's novices was outstanding compared to their Oxford rivals, which gives hope for the future. Full results are available on www.srcf.ucam.org/cub.
