Training Sessions

The archery year is split in to an indoor and an outdoor season. The indoor season runs from the start of the academic year in Michaelmas (October) until the end of Lent (March). After this we move outdoors for the duration of Easter term and the Easter and summer vacations.

Information about session times, locations, and dates for all of these time periods can be found below.

Sign-up sheet

Current members should sign up for upcoming sessions using the sign-up sheet. Access to this sheet is dependent on a completed membership form and club fees paid.

Michaelmas and Lent Terms

In Michaelmas and Lent we shoot indoors at the University of Cambridge Sports Centre at West Cambridge. Directions can be found from the interactive map below.

We will be shooting Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday sessions in the Sports Centre throughout full term in both Michaelmas and Lent, including the Monday and Wednesday before lectures begin and the Friday after they finish. Similarly, Strength and Conditioning sessions will run on each Thursday throughout full term, and will also continue in Easter term.

Easter Term

In Easter term we shoot outdoors on Churchill College sports fields, situated in the grounds of the college. We use the top field near the Astronomy Department and set up beside the college chapel. Directions can be found from the interactive map below.

We have regular sessions throughout the week as listed below, where members will always be present to open up. In the event of inclement weather and the session being cancelled, an email will be sent to the outdoor shooting mailing list before 2pm that day, so please ensure you are signed up to this.

• Tuesdays 5:00pm - Dusk
  Open session for all club members with coaching and assistance available for novice archers and archers who have graduated from their beginner course.
• Wednesdays 5:00pm - Dusk
  Open session for all experienced/novice archers and those who have graduated from the beginners course.
• Fridays 5:00pm - Dusk
  Open session for all experienced/novice archers and those who have graduated from the beginners course.
• Sundays 2pm - Onwards
  Most Sundays will be relaxed shooting for all experienced/novice/graduated beginner archers. Some will be target days where we shoot an organised round and you can try for badges and classification scores. These will be publicised via the mailing list.

Vacation Periods

Shooting continues during the vacation periods as we have a large number of postgraduate and staff members. However, sessions may no longer follow the regular schedule and are instead arranged between members by use of a vacation mailing list. During the outdoor vacation periods we will be using the schedule of regular sessions outlined above for Easter Term.
